Austin Design Week: Launch Event

Austin Design Week: Launch Event, supported by Nelda Studios, served as the first partnership between the School of Design and Creative Technologies and Austin Design Week. This launch event celebrated the beginning of a week-long celebration of Austin’s creative problem solvers. Faculty, staff, and students worked together to produce an evening filled with analogue and digital interactive experiences, lighting design, 3D projection mapping, and entertainment.

Austin Design Week: Launch Event, provided students the opportunity to produce a public event engaging the greater Austin community of creative problem solvers. Students put into practice multiple strategies critical to the overall success of this event. Strategies included:

  • Lighting previsualization

  • Projection previsualization

  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)

  • UV map implementation

Hardware and software utilized for this event included:

  • Hog4 Lighting Platform

  • Green Hippo Media Server

Personnel Involved:

  • approx. 75 students

  • 12 faculty

  • approx. 400 audience members
